Elevate Your Lifestyle with Amazon’s Eco-Friendly Finds

Living an eco-friendly lifestyle has become increasingly important in today’s world. As we become more aware of our impact on the environment, we realize the importance of making sustainable choices that can help reduce waste and protect the planet for future generations. Climate change, pollution, and resource depletion are some of the biggest challenges we face today, and it’s up to each one of us to take responsibility and do our part.

One of the easiest ways to start living a more sustainable lifestyle is by incorporating eco-friendly products into our daily routines. Not only are these products better for the environment, but they can also save us money and improve our health. By choosing to use products that are made from sustainable materials and free of harmful chemicals, we can minimize the amount of waste we produce.

By choosing eco-friendly products, we are using our purchasing power to send a message to companies that we prioritize sustainability and value products that are less wasteful. When faced with a choice between recycled and non-recycled toilet paper, for example, opt for the former, as increased demand for eco-conscious products can prompt businesses to shift their production towards more sustainable options. As consumers continue to prioritize eco-friendliness, companies are likely to follow suit and develop more environmentally-conscious products.

Shopping Sustainably on Amazon

Shopping online can have a significant impact on the environment, from excess packaging to emissions generated during transportation. When it comes to shopping sustainably on Amazon, here are some tips to reduce the ecological impact.

Opt for “Frustration-Free Packaging” which is available on certain items and minimizes excess packaging. This type of packaging doesn’t come with an additional layer of packaging and shows the product inside. You can choose to hide it with Amazon packaging, but if you’re looking to reduce waste and it doesn’t matter if it shows you what the product is, select the option without the additional packaging. Usually it shows just under the “add to cart”.

Shop Climate friendly

Amazon has introduced a special badge called “Climate Pledge Friendly Products” that makes it easy to identify products and brands that have pledged to meet Amazon’s sustainability standards. This badge helps customers identify environmentally responsible products quickly and easily, although they don’t have many options with that badge (trust me, I checked). However, if more people purchase these products, Amazon will learn that there is a demand for sustainable options, and they may increase the selection over time. So by choosing these products, you’re not only making an environmentally responsible choice, but you’re also showing Amazon that sustainability matters to you.

Purchase ‘used’ on amazon

When you choose to purchase second-hand products, you are contributing to waste reduction by preventing the need to produce new items and conserving resources. This also helps prevent the item from ending up in a landfill, and you can save money while supporting sustainable practices. Keep an eye out for the “buy used” option while shopping and add it to your cart. Here’s an example of what it might look like when you’re shopping.

I only recommend products or services that I have personally used and believe will add value to my readers.

With those tips in mind, let’s now explore 22 eco-friendly products that are available for purchase on Amazon.

Muslin produce bags and cotton mesh tote bags are ideal for grocery shopping and storing produce. Crafted from breathable materials, these bags help to extend the life of your produce while reducing the need for single-use plastic bags. Moreover, they can be used multiple times, making them a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative.

3. Reusable glass tumblers and coffee cups

An excellent alternative to disposable cups and mugs are reusable glass tumblers and coffee cups. These eco-friendly options come in a variety of sizes and designs, and are perfect for carrying your favorite hot or cold beverage with you wherever you go.

Glass tumblers are typically made of borosilicate glass, which is known for its durability and resistance to thermal shock. They are easy to clean and dishwasher safe, making them a convenient option for daily use. Some glass tumblers also come with silicone sleeves or lids to prevent spills and protect your hands from hot beverages.

Reusable coffee cups are another popular option, and are often made of materials like glassstainless steel, or ceramic. They come in various sizes and designs, from classic mugs to sleek travel cups with leak-proof lids. Many coffee shops even offer discounts for customers who bring their own cups, so using a reusable coffee cup can save you money in the long run.

By using a reusable glass tumbler or coffee thermos, you can help reduce the amount of waste generated by disposable cups and mugs. Plus, you can enjoy your beverage in style, knowing that you are making a small but meaningful contribution to a more sustainable future.

4. Bamboo Dish Brushes

Not only are bamboo brushes eco-friendly, but they are also durable and long-lasting. They come in various sizes and shapes to fit your cleaning needs. The natural bristles are gentle on your dishes and won’t scratch or damage delicate surfaces. Plus, bamboo is a fast-growing, renewable resource that requires less water and no pesticides to grow, making it an excellent choice for sustainable living.

5. Dish soap Blocks

By choosing a vegan dishwashing soap block like this one, you can take a step towards reducing household waste and supporting sustainability. This soap is made of natural ingredients and doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals or animal-derived ingredients. As a result, it is often gentler on your dishes and skin, while also being a more eco-friendly option compared to traditional liquid dish soaps that are typically packaged in plastic bottles. The packaging of vegan dishwashing soap blocks is often recyclable or compostable, adding to their eco-friendliness. Additionally, opting for this soap can support animal welfare efforts by avoiding products that are tested on animals or contain animal-derived ingredients. This particular dish block is also manufactured in the USA at a solar powered facility.

6. Natural Dish Sponges

When it comes to cleaning dishes, using a natural dish sponge can be a fantastic way to reduce your impact on the environment. Unlike synthetic sponges, which are often made of non-biodegradable materials like plastic, natural dish sponges are typically made of biodegradable materials like cellulose. This means that they can break down naturally at the end of their life, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. Plus, many natural dish sponges are also free of harmful chemicals and dyes, making them a safer and more eco-friendly choice for cleaning.

Another great thing about natural dish sponges is that they can often be composted after use, adding valuable nutrients back into the soil instead of taking up space in a landfill. And because they are made of natural materials, they are often gentler on your dishes than synthetic sponges, which can sometimes scratch delicate surfaces.

So if you’re looking for an eco-friendly and sustainable way to clean your dishes, consider switching to a natural dish sponge. With their compostable materials, gentle cleaning power, and minimal environmental impact, they’re a great choice for both you and the planet.

7. Food scrap bin and compost bags

Composting is an awesome way to reduce waste and get some amazing soil for your garden. And with a food scrap bin (which people also use them in other creative ways) and compost bags (you’ll be supporting a small business if you purchase from them), it’s easier than ever to collect all your food scraps and other organic materials to add to your compost pile. Plus, using a composting system like this helps to keep your kitchen tidy and free of any unpleasant odors. I know some cities offer compost pickup days and drop-off areas or compost facilities, so please check with your local municipality.

And if you’re worried about the mess or the smell, don’t be! With a variety of kitchen composters (like this Lomi and Vitamix Foodcycler) available, including some with built-in carbon filters to reduce odors, it’s easy to find a system that works for you. Plus, you’ll never have to worry about your baked goods sticking to the pan again. Give these mats a try and see the difference for yourself!

10. Concentrated multipurpose cleaners

Many traditional cleaning products contain harmful chemicals that can harm both the environment and our health. By switching to concentrated multipurpose cleaners, you can reduce the amount of harmful chemicals you use and also save money on cleaning products. Concentrated cleaners are typically sold in smaller bottles and can be diluted with water to create a cleaning solution that can be used on a variety of surfaces.

11. Loose leaf tea infusers

If you’re a tea lover, you probably know that there’s nothing quite like the taste and aroma of loose leaf tea. But sometimes it can be a hassle to brew it, especially if you don’t have the right tools. That’s where loose leaf tea infusers come in handy.

These nifty little gadgets are specially designed to make brewing loose leaf tea a breeze. They come in a variety of materials like stainless steel or silicone, and have different shapes and sizes to suit your needs. Simply fill the infuser with your favorite loose leaf tea, place it in your mug, and pour hot water over it. Voila! You have a perfect cup of tea that’s ready to be enjoyed

12. Reusable “paper towels”

If you’re looking to cut down on your paper towel usage, there are plenty of eco-friendly alternatives to choose from! Some of the most popular options include:

– Swedish Dishcloths: These are super absorbent and durable cleaning cloths that you can reuse again and again. Just toss them in the dishwasher or washing machine when they need a refresh

– Washable Bamboo Paper Towels: These are like regular paper towels, but you can wash and reuse them instead of throwing them away. They come in a variety of fun colors and patterns, so you can pick ones that match your kitchen decor.

– Microfiber Cleaning Cloths: These little cloths are perfect for cleaning up messes around the house. They’re made from synthetic fibers and can be washed in the washing machine.

– Unpaper Towels: These cloth towels are usually made out of cotton and designed to look and feel like paper towels, but they’re way more sustainable. You can use them over and over again, and they come in a bunch of different fabrics and designs.

By choosing one of these eco-friendly options, you can help to reduce your environmental impact and make your home a little greener.

13. Reusable round pads

Reusable round pads are perfect for removing makeup, as they are soft and gentle on the skin. They are also versatile and can be used for other purposes, such as applying toner or other skincare products. Unlike disposable cotton pads, which are typically made from non-organic cotton and often come packaged in plastic, these pads are made from sustainable materials like cotton or a blend of cotton and bamboo fibers, and they can be washed and reused multiple times reducing the amount of waste generated by single-use products.

14. Bamboo toothbrushes

Bamboo toothbrushes are not only good for the environment but are also super durable and long-lasting. The handles are made from bamboo, which is naturally anti-bacterial and water-resistant, making it perfect for personal care products like toothbrushes.

Plus, they’re a healthier option for your oral hygiene routine. Unlike plastic toothbrushes that may contain harmful chemicals like BPA and phthalates, bamboo toothbrushes are non-toxic and gentle on your gums and teeth. They have soft and natural bristles that can prevent gum recession and tooth sensitivity. And the best part is that they’re made from a renewable and biodegradable material that won’t end up polluting our oceans and landfills.

15. Shampoo bars

Shampoo bars are a solid form of shampoo that are made of natural ingredients and free of harmful chemicals. They’re a great option for those who are looking to support companies that care about the environment. And because they don’t come in plastic bottles, they’re more eco-friendly and take up less space in your shower.

Using a shampoo bar is super easy, too! Simply wet your hair, lather up the bar in your hands or rub it directly onto your hair (I rub it directly in there), and wash as usual. They’re perfect for travel, and because they’re solid, you don’t have to worry about them spilling or leaking in your luggage.

But that’s not all! Shampoo bars also have benefits for your hair and scalp. They’re free of harsh detergents and sulfates that can strip your hair of its natural oils, which can lead to dryness, breakage, and even hair loss. And because they’re made of natural ingredients, they’re gentler on your scalp, reducing the risk of irritation and dandruff.

I’ve already made the switch to shampoo bars about 2 years ago and I haven’t looked back. I’ve purchased some from Basin and EarthlingCo in the past, but my next shampoo bar purchase will be from Moon Valley Organics because their prices are more economical.

16. Eco-friendly toilet paper

Eco-friendly toilet paper is typically made from recycled materials or alternative sources such as bamboo or hemp. These materials are more sustainable and less resource-intensive than traditional toilet paper made from trees. Regular toilet paper is often bleached to make it look whiter and more appealing to consumers. This bleaching process involves the use of harsh chemicals such as chlorine, which can be harmful to the environment and potentially harmful to your health.

If you’re interested in trying eco-friendly toilet paper, there are a few things to keep in mind. Look for options that are made from 100% recycled materials or alternative sources such as bamboo or hemp. Some eco-friendly options may also be packaged in plastic-free or biodegradable materials, which is an added bonus. And don’t forget to check the ply – just because it’s eco-friendly doesn’t mean it’s not effective!

I’ve personally made the switch to eco-friendly toilet paper earlier this year and purchased from HelloTushy. I must admit, they are definitely a lot more rough than your normal charmin and target brand, but it gets the job done.

When the box i ordered is done though, I’m thinking of giving this box a try. if you do before me, let me know!

17. Bidet

If you’re tired of dealing with the hassle of toilet paper, you might want to give a bidet a try. Not only is it a more environmentally friendly option, but it can also help you save water. But the benefits don’t stop there. Using a bidet is also a great way to keep yourself feeling fresh and clean. No more worrying about whether you missed a spot or feeling like you need a shower after every bathroom visit. With a bidet, you can get a thorough clean without any fuss.

Now, I know what you might be thinking. “But isn’t using a bidet kind of weird?” I get it, it might seem a little unconventional at first. But once you try it, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. It’s like upgrading from a flip phone to a smartphone – once you experience the convenience, there’s no going back.

So if you’re ready to join the bidet revolution (<-bought this one for my mom), give it a shot. Your butt (and the planet) will thank you!

18. Menstrual cup and reusable sanitary napkins

They’re like a fancy, reusable version of tampons and pads. The menstrual cup (<–made in the USA) is made of medical grade silicone or rubber and can be used for up to 10 years! You just pop it in and it collects your menstrual fluid. The reusable sanitary napkin is like a little cloth pad that you can wash and reuse multiple times. Just make sure to read the instructions so you know how to clean and care for them properly.

Menstrual cups (This one too!) and reusable sanitary napkins come in different sizes to fit different bodies and flow levels. It’s important to choose the right size for you to ensure that they work effectively and comfortably. Many manufacturers provide sizing guides to help you find the perfect fit. So don’t worry, there’s a menstrual cup or reusable sanitary napkin out there for everyone! They’re both great options if you want to be kind to the environment and save money in the long run!

19. Organic bamboo fabric bandages:

Organic bamboo fabric bandages are a sustainable alternative to regular plastic bandages. They’re biodegradable, so you can feel good about using them without adding to the plastic waste that takes hundreds of years to break down.

Bamboo bandages are also really gentle on your skin, and they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Some even have aloe vera or coconut oil in them to help soothe and heal cuts and scrapes. So not only are they good for the environment, but they’re good for your skin too!

If you’re looking for a way to reduce your plastic waste and use more sustainable products, give organic bamboo fabric bandages a try.

20. Plastic Free Razors

You know those plastic disposable razors? Yeah, they’re not so great for the planet. But, there are metal razors that are made with stainless steel or other durable metals, and they come in all sorts of styles, from old-school straight razors to modern safety razors. They provide a smooth shave and you can just replace the blades, so they’re super easy to maintain. Plus, they look pretty rad on your bathroom shelf.

While I was looking at different types of “green” Razors, I came across this glorious looking one and this one. Then I wondered, “These types of razors are cool and all, but how do you dispose of the blades?” You can either purchase a Razor bank like this one, it permanently locks and is puncture proof, so you just fill ‘er up and throw the whole box of razors in the trash or bring them to a “Sharps collection” location. They also have Razor banks like this little one here. I also read that you can also just throw them in the trash separately, but wrap them in tape or something similar to avoid, for lack of a better word, bloodshed. You can also sharpen them yourself so they last longer which is pretty neat.

The Leaf Shave Razor features a sleek, modern design and is made with precision engineering. It has a pivoting head that adjusts to the curves of your face and a unique blade system that provides a smooth, comfortable shave. The razor can be used with any double-edge razor blade, making it easy to find replacements. These types of Razors takes a little time to get used to because they offer a closer shave, but with some practice, you’ll be a pro in no time. Although the links above are for Amazon, they have more colors available on the website. Leafshave.com if none on Amazon catch your fancy.

21. Laundry detergent powder: This powder is a great alternative to liquid laundry detergent that comes in plastic bottles. It’s made of natural ingredients, biodegradable, and can last for months.

So, there are two main Brands I use Molly’s Suds. The reason why Molly’s Suds is my go-to is because of the story about why the woman founded this company. Her daughter was stillborn dived deep into what causes it. One of the reasons is laundry detergent so she wanted to create a healthier alternative. If you’re interested in knowing about her story Click here. They manufacture their products in the US and are very much involved in the community.

I actually first heard about this brand because I saw it at a TJMaxx.

Another brand I use is Nellie’s and only because it works better for towels than Molly’s Suds, so I only use the Nellie’s when towels are involved with the wash. Molly’s does now have a few new lines of laundry powder called “Super Wash” and “Active Wear” so when my bags (I have 3, and they last pretty friggen long) run’s out, I’ll be giving those a shot to see if I can retire the Nellie’s Powder.

22. Wool dryer balls

Wool dryer balls are like an eco-friendly upgrade to those disposable dryer sheets. These little guys are made from sustainable materials like wool and they’re reusable – so you don’t have to keep buying new ones like you do with dryer sheets.

The best part is, they don’t have all those nasty chemicals that can be released into the air by dryer sheets. With wool dryer balls, you can still get your clothes nice and soft, without the risk of exposing yourself or the planet to harmful chemicals.

You pretty much just toss a few of them into your dryer with your wet clothes, and they’ll help reduce drying time and static cling. Plus, they’re great for fluffing up your towels and sheets.

And here’s a little bonus tip: you can even add some drops of your favorite essential oil (I use lavender) onto the dryer balls to give your clothes a fresh scent without the artificial fragrances that come with dryer sheets.

Wool dryer balls are a smart, sustainable choice for anyone who wants to make their laundry routine a little greener. Plus, they’re kind of cute and fuzzy, which is always a bonus in our book!
